Local Information
Hythe is between Folkestone and Romney Marsh and the cottage is situated north of Hythe up a hill which gives you wide panoramic views of the area.
The town centre, with places to eat and visit, is just five minutes away by a car-free footpath.
There is free on-street parking which can get busy at times but there is always a space.
Hythe has good public railway links to London and beyond with regular buses from Folkestone Central and along the coast. The nearest Railway station is Sandling from where you can get a taxi or walk. Kits Cottage is ideal for those who enjoy walking or cycling.


Hythe
Hythe was the central Cinque Port, sitting between Hastings and New Romney to the west and Dover and Sandwich to the east.
The Royal Military Canal is almost visible from the cottage and is a great place to walk.
The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway also starts and ends here.
Folkestone
Folkestone is the nearest ‘big’ town with shops and restaurants. It’s about 10 minutes by car but it is also possible to walk or get the bus.
The Harbour Arm is worth a visit, as is the old High Street.


Sandgate
Sandgate is a village between Folkestone and Hythe.
A nice walk is to Sandgate, starting along the MIlitary Canal and then joining the sea front until you reach the high street where there are lots of nice Cafes.

Dungeness
Dungeness is Britain’s only desert making the landscape unique. The best way to visit is to take the train.


Other Places
Canterbury is easy reachable by car and makes for a great day trip.
Likewise Broadstairs and Whitstable on the Kent north coast make for great visits.
If you’re a photographer St Thomas à Becket Church, Fairfield (pictured), is a must-visit.
Port Lympne Wildlife Park is also nearby and gives you a safari experience.
